Relay For Life is a 24-hour community celebration which honours all those who are affected by cancer. The Irish Cancer Society hopes to bring Relay For Life to every town and city in Ireland.
At Relay For Life, whole communities come together united against cancer to Celebrate life, Remember loved ones lost to the disease, and Fight Back against cancer by raising awareness about cancer prevention as well as raising funds to support the Irish Cancer Society's mission to stop cancer.
Relay For Life events raise vital funds to support the work of the Irish Cancer Society. At the heart of each Relay For Life event, teams of friends, neighbours, families and colleagues come together in groups and commit to keeping participants walking around a track or path for 24 hours.
Fun and exciting activities take place throughout the 24 hours to create a wonderfully festive atmosphere.
It also happens to be a helluva marathon - possibly the No 1 marathon in the world today. Combining a superb course and a vibrant, unique city, the New York City Marathon (Sunday, November 4) is a truly special experience. Starting at the Verrazano Bridge on Staten Island, runners cross into Brooklyn and then proceed through Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan, finishing in Central Park.
