Irish Cancer Society Research PhD Scholarship Programmes 2024
Introduction
The Irish Cancer Society is delighted to launch our PhD Research Scholarship Programmes, 2024.
This year, we are funding three distinct Cancer Research PhD Scholarships. Two Scholarships are co-funded by the Irish Association of Cancer Research (IACR) and are eligible to applicants across the entire island of Ireland.
The remaining Scholarship is focused on an important area of strategic priority for the Society and is open to the Republic of Ireland applicants only.

- Irish Cancer Society – IACR PhD Scholarship Programme 2024: Translational & Clinical Cancer Research. This call is for researchers in a clinical or translational field, and can be focused on any cancer type.
- Irish Cancer Society – IACR PhD Scholarship Programme 2024: Cancer Survivorship Research. This call is for researchers in a survivorship field, and can be focused on any cancer type.
- Irish Cancer Society Underserved Communities in Cancer Research PhD Scholarship. This call is for researchers in a survivorship, clinical or translational field, but must be focused on underrepresented communities in cancer.
All Scholarships will come with a minimum stipend of €22,000 per annum, as well as the opportunity to complete the Scholarship full time (over 3 or 4 years) or part time. We are also offering a unique mobility element with all our Scholarships.
Applications will open on February 7th, and intention to submit forms are due by 3pm, March 13th. Full applications are due by 3pm, April 4th.
Please note, each scholarship call has a specific remit. Researchers may only submit an application to one of the three PhD funding rounds, according to the round that best fits the scope of their project.
