Financial support (Children's Fund and Transport Service)

The Irish Cancer Society's financial support programmes offer relief to families experiencing financial difficulty due to a cancer diagnosis.

Children's Fund

The Irish Cancer Society’s financial support fund for children and their families, is available to assist children on active treatment for a cancer diagnosis.

To qualify for this fund there are some criteria the applicant must meet:

  • The fund is for patients under the age of 18 years.
  • The child must live permanently in Ireland.
  • The child has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment.

The Children's Fund application form can be downloaded [here].

Transport Service

The Irish Cancer Society's Transport Service provides patient travel services to patients in need who are in cancer treatment.

The Transport Service can bring children and adolescents travelling from Kildare, Meath, Dublin and Wicklow to CHI Crumlin for treatment.

Travel2Care is a fund for patients who are having difficulty getting to and from their diagnostic test appointments or cancer treatments. The fund itself is made available by the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and administered by the Irish Cancer Society. One of the criteria of the fund is that a patient must be travelling over 50km one way to their treatment hospital, which should be a designated cancer centre, a satellite or an approved children’s hospital. [Learn more about Travel2Care here.]
