Planning your trek

What do I have to do to take part?

Register with Earth’s Edge or another trek supplier and then contact Lara at LJoyce@irishcancer.ie to confirm your registration. We will then send you out your fundraising pack to get you started!

How fit do I need to be?

Treks require a good level of fitness to walk the routes. Although some of the days can be fairly short, the trekking can be demanding, with very steep and uneven steps in some places. You will want to have a training schedule to prepare for the trek.

How much will I need to fundraise?

The minimum fundraising amount depends on what funding option you choose. If you choose Mixed-funding you will be required to fundraise a minimum amount of €2,000 for the Irish Cancer Society. If you self-fund the trek, you set your own target. Our fundraising team will be on hand to offer advice and support with your fundraising. If you have any query relating to your fundraising target, do not hesitate to contact the team.

What's included in the trek package and are there any medical requirments?

Your trek package and medical requirements are dependent on your chosen trek supplier. The Irish Cancer Society does not coordinate the trek but we are here to help with any aspect of fundraising!

How does the Irish Cancer Society benefit from my trip?

We use the donations you raise to fund research throughout areas in line with our mission to ensure fewer people get cancer and those that do have better outcomes. Cancer research is crucial to improve the prevention, detection and treatment of these cancers.
