Lorraine Treanor, Daffodil Day volunteer in Monaghan

Lorraine: Daffodil Day volunteer, Co Monaghan

Lorraine is an Irish Cancer Society volunteer who gives her time organising local events and fundraisers in Monaghan on Daffodil Day.

From Monaghan, Lorraine has been volunteering on Daffodil Day for over 20 years. She started by donating her time selling daffodils on the streets of her local town and has since become the organiser for all Daffodil Day activities across the entire county.

Lorraine keeps coming back year after year because she had many aunts and uncles who had cancer. Seeing what they were up against, she wanted to give something back to the Irish Cancer Society.

There's not a home or anyone in Ireland that's not affected by cancer.

Lorraine

With so many people affected by cancer in Ireland, Lorraine says that you barely have to ask for donations on Daffodil Day - people are very willing to give, and Lorraine is astounded by the hospitality and community spirit that comes across on the day.

Daffodil Day is Friday, 27 March
