Kerry Cancer Support Group
Kerry Cancer is a free community service that is open to all, without referral and at no cost. Our aim is to provide social support to individuals on their cancer journey. The services we provide include: Transport on the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus every day to Cork University Hospital. The route services Kerry and parts of Cork. To support our service users on their cancer journey, we have secured a block booking with CUH.
This means that those travelling on the bus are scheduled together and do not have to endure long delays waiting for appointments. We visit schools, community groups and other organisations to provide them with information on reducing the risk of cancer, body awareness and healthy lifestyle. At our centre in Tralee we provide holistic therapy and provide information and support to cancer patients and their families. We also provide a peer companion programme where a cancer survivor supports the cancer patient on their journey. The services we provide result in health, emotional and financial benefits for cancer patients and also benefit those caring for them. The users experience great emotional and social support from each other. We are not in receipt of any State or HSE funding.
