About the Irish Cancer Society Relay For Life
Relay For Life is a 24 hour event that happens in communities across Ireland, as well as in over twenty countries across the world. At Relay, communities come together to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and fight back against the disease by raising awareness and funds that support lifesaving research and care for patients.
Remembering our loved ones during the Candle of Hope ceremony
At each Relay For Life event, a Candle of Hope ceremony is held at dusk where the track is lit by candle bags that have been dedicated to those lost to cancer and those fighting the disease. Participants walk the track, reading the messages and sharing in the spirit of the event.
