Colour Dash FAQs

Thanks for finding out more about Colour Dash, Ireland's first-ever paint run which takes place in four locations around Ireland in 2019!

Q: How do I register?

A: Register online here or call the Colour Dash team on CallSave 1850 60 60 60.

Q: When does registration close?

A: Registrations will close once we reach capacity of the location. Keep an eye on our main Colour Dash pages and make sure to like our two Facebook pages - the main Irish Cancer Society page and the dedicated Colour Dash page - for all the latest announcements.

Q: What is the registration cost?

A: €30 adult / €5 child (under 12)

Q: Can I register a team online?

A: Absolutely, the more the merrier!

Q: How much of the funds raised and registration fee goes to the Irish Cancer Society?

A: 100% of the fee goes directly, as the Colour Dash is 100% owned by the Irish Cancer Society

Q: What is included with my Colour Dash registration?

A: When you register with us online or over the phone, we will send out your fundraising pack. Bring your wristband as proof of registration. You would have received this in your fundraising pack. Without it you will be unable to participate.

Q: Do I bring anything with me on the day?

A: Bring your wristband and ticket containing your supporter number as proof of registration. You would have received this in your fundraising pack. Without it you will be unable to participate.

Q: Where do I get my white t-shirt?

A: We will be handing out white Colour Dash t-shirts on the day. To collect yours and enter the race be sure to bring your wristband (sent in your fundraising pack) on the day!

Q: Will the powdered colour damage me? Will I be hurt?

A: No, it is not dangerous at all; it is as safe as flour, non-toxic and totally natural.

Q: Do I need to be a fit runner to do this?

A: NOT AT ALL! The Colour Dash event is all about having fun and finishing the run looking colourful! You can run, walk, crawl or even skip over the finish line!

Q: Can I run with my dog?

A: Sorry, no dogs allowed.

Q: Can I take part with my kids?

A: Yes! The Colour Dash is for families of all ages. Kids under 12 years old are €5 but must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: Is there an age limit for younger participants?

A: No age limits. If they can cover 5km running or walking, they can absolutely do the Colour Dash 5k! We do, however, advise that children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Push chairs are not allowed at the event.

Q: What do I wear on the day of the race?

A: Wear as much white as possible during the Colour Dash. If you can't get all white clothing then be sure to wear the white t-shirt you receive on the day.

Q: Can I bring a child in a buggy?

A: Sorry, no buggies allowed due to safety reasons.

Q: Will the colour powder ruin clothes, hair or running shoes?

A: The colour powder we use is non-toxic and totally natural and it will mostly dissolve and wash out of clothes. The sooner you wash it though the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn't mind getting colourful. If you have bleached hair we would recommend covering it as the colours can take a few washes to come out.

Q: How does the colour affect the inside of cars?

A: The powder should not badly affect the inside of a car but we would advise you to bring a towel to sit on in your car just to make sure.

Q: Who throws the powder?

A: We will have volunteers throwing the powder along the route. Each colour will represent a different cancer you are helping us fight, or an aspect of cancer that can be celebrated.
There are five colours: Purple is for cancer survivorship, green is for bowel cancer, yellow stands for lung cancer, pink for breast cancer and blue represents prostate cancer.

Q: Are cameras and phones safe to have in the colour zones?

A: We would suggest you cover your devices in some plastic just to make sure they don't get damaged.

Q: Is the Colour Dash timed?

A: The Colour Dash 5k is not a timed event, but it is the most fun 5k in Ireland!

Q: Are there refunds?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds and all Colour Dash tickets are non-transferrable.

Q: Can I change the name on my ticket?

A: No - all Colour Dash tickets are non-transferrable.

Q: Can I buy a ticket and register on the day of the event?

A: The number of participants in Colour Dash is limited so if you're interested we advise you to register today before it sells out! You can register online as an individual, or call us on CallSave 1850 60 60 60.
