Public talk: 'Breast Cancer – A Growing Global Challenge?'

The Irish Cancer Society Collaborative Cancer Research Centre BREAST-PREDICT and Europa Donna Ireland would like to invite patients, scientists, clinicians, patient advocates and other stakeholders to attend the public talk Breast Cancer – A Growing Global Challenge?'

Our guest speaker is Dr Elisabete Weiderpass, an epidemiologist with wide experience in cancer and other non-communicative diseases research. Her main interests are in researching the causes and origins of cancers and ways to prevent chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, as well as in studying factors affecting cancer survival and overall mortality.

With scientific leadership positions Norway, Sweden and Finland, Dr Weiderpass has been involved in more than 30 international projects over her 25-year career. She has published extensively in international medical journals, co-authored several books, and has established a broad scientific network on all continents.

In January 2019 Dr Weiderpass will take up the role of Director of the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer.

This FREE public talk takes place on Wednesday, 17 October, from 6-7:15pm (registration from 5:30pm) in the Albert Theatre, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Attendance is by registration only – please register to attend here.
