We want to hear from patients and family members about your experiences of paying inpatient charges of €80 per hospital visit, during cancer treatment, and the impact of this charge on you and your family.

The Irish Cancer Society wants the Government to abolish inpatient charges of €80 per hospital visit. Inpatient charges can cost €800 per calendar year (January – December), and if your treatment begins late in the year and runs into the next year, you may end up paying up to €800 again depending on how many treatment sessions you require.

We have also heard of cases where patients have had charges referred to debt-collection agencies.

You can help us in our efforts by sharing your story about the impact of this charge on you and your family. If you want to share your story please contact advocacy@irishcancer.ie or leave a message / comment below.
