Living with eye cancer
Once your treatment is over, you will have to come back for regular check-ups. This is called follow-up. Your doctor will let you know how often he wants to see you. Once your eye heals, your surgeon will arrange for you to see a specialist who makes false eyes. This is usually about 4 to 6 weeks after your operation.
The check-ups will include having an eye exam and some blood tests. If you are between check-ups or have a symptom or problem that worries you, let your doctor know without delay.
There are many cancer support centres and voluntary groups around the country. If you feel they could help you and your family, call the Cancer Nurseline on Freephone 1800 200 700. The nurses can give you more information on counselling or support groups in your area.
We can also help you cope with the emotional effects of a cancer diagnosis.
