Cork city Daffodil Day change to Saturday March 12th leads to urgent call for volunteers in Cork city and some suburbs

Today the Irish Cancer Society, with lead partner Dell, urgently appeals for volunteers in Cork city and the suburbs of Ballyvolane, Bishopstown and Mahon, on Saturday March 12th for their Daffodil Day 2016 collections. If you are based in those areas with some time to volunteer please call CallSave 1850 60 60 60 or visit www.cancer.ie/daffodilday.

Daffodil Day 2016 is taking place nationally on Friday March 11th but due to an issue with permits the appeal will take place in Cork city and suburbs on Saturday March 12th.

Eileen Kearney, Community Fundraiser Cork, Irish Cancer Society said, “Every year Cork is a massively strong base for Daffodil Day. The change in date has proved tricky for many of our volunteers and we are now urgently looking for more people to get involved. Every family in Cork is touched by cancer, it is startling to think of how prevalent cancer is and how many families are impacted by those three words – you have cancer. As the national cancer charity we are working hard to meet the increased demand for help as more people get and survive cancer we need to raise even more money this year on Daffodil Day. So if you are based in Cork city, Ballinlough, Ballyphehane, Ballyvolane, Bishopstown, Blackrock, Douglas, Knocknaheeney, Mahon, Mayfield or Togher, please support our volunteers who will be collecting on Saturday March 12th.”
