The Society supports all people at every stage of their cancer experience, reaching many thousands of people every year. The Society provides practical, financial and emotional supports and services, including end-of-life night nursing care, counselling, transport services, grants, and in-person, telephone and online advice, information and support. All services are free of charge and designed to ease the burden of cancer.
The Society’s Strategy 2020-2025 sets out an ambitious plan to significantly grow existing services and develop new ones to meet the holistic needs of children and adults with cancer. The Society is recruiting a Director of Services to lead this exciting programme of growth and innovation.
The Director of Services will be a strategic leader of the Society and member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO.
The overall goals of this post are to lead, inspire and empower the Society’s Services Team to deliver excellence in services, and to achieve an exciting programme of service growth and innovation for people affected by cancer. The Director of Services will lead the delivery of high-quality patient-centric services, and ensure an integrated, personalised and meaningful experience for everyone who uses the Society’s services and supports. To do so, they will drive a programme of transformation, ensuring a patient focussed and operational excellence culture across all services. The Director of Services will be responsible for rapidly growing the Society’s reach and impact to meet the growing need for the Society’s services and supports.
The Director of Services will be responsible for leading, inspiring and growing a large Services team, and for the delivery and governance of all services. The Director of Services will serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, and a spokesperson for the Society, championing the needs of cancer patients and making meaningful change.
The successful candidate will be a goal oriented and target-driven executive leader with strong commercial acumen. They will have proven capability in developing and rapidly scaling new services and channels to meet needs and in rapidly creating growth in their area. They will have experience in leading transformational change in an organisation or business unit.
The candidate will be an excellent people leader and motivator, with a high degree of emotional intelligence, possessing the ability to lead and inspire diverse people. They will be a highly effective problem solver, deriving insight from data to make evidence-based decisions and solutions. They will be an effective and clear communicator, able to distil information and present clearly and with impact.
Above all, they will be purpose driven, with a strong commitment to the Society’s mission and a desire to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
