How to Stay Healthy

  • Men should maintain a healthy weight for their height.
  • Include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per day.
  • Include more fish and poultry in one's diet, try to limit red meat intake to 2-3 times a week.
  • Avoid fatty foods and try to decrease fat intake.
  • Ongoing studies are evaluating the role of antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium in prostate cancer prevention. There is some early evidence to suggest that tomatoes, which contain not only vitamins C & E, but also another antioxidant called lycopene, may be associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer..
  • It is recommended that men who are over the age of 50 years, have a positive family history of prostate cancer and are concerned, should consult with their GP.
