Silly Questions

Last reply: 21 July 2012 22:54

Hi , I had a lumpectomy and 5 lymph nodes removed on 9th July. My questions are : when can you begin to shave your underarm, and should you use an electric or regular razor. Also when can you start to use deodorant and talc. Is it better to use deodorant spray or a roll on. I know these questions seem silly , but as a newbie to breast cancer I just don't know the answers. Would be greatful for replies. Thanks G

They certainly aren't silly. I was advised by physio on these. Was told only to use electric razor as had lymphs removed. I prefer roll-on deodorant & always use so can't remember what she advised for this. If in any doubt contact your physio or Breast care nurse.

Wishing you well on your journey. Image removed.

Hi Gtlheart

Not silly at all, it's also bothering me. I was told use hair remover cream or electric razor. I'm still very squished together underarm so can't try electric razor yet. Started using Toms calendula recently, got it in health food shop, keep the nasties down.

Also a question to all, are anti perspirants out of the question? I feel sweaty and think I often detect whiff of BO Image removed.Image removed. using only deodorant.

I also had a lumpectomy in June with three lymph nodes removed. I actually shaved under my arm tonight, which by the way is still very numb - now from reading this I've realised I shouldn't have, in case of any cuts. I get a reaction from Veet cream. Don't fancy having one hairy underarm !!
