Pink Ribbon Appeal stories

The Pink Ribbon Appeal would not be possible without the fantastic support of our volunteers all across the country. Here’s a snap shot of what they got up to this year.

Our friends at Westport Country Lodge Hotel offered a special package to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For each package sold they donated a percentage to the Pink Ribbon Appeal.

Seamount College in Kinvara Co. Galway went pink this October by hosting Pink Tea mornings and selling Pink ribbons throughout the month.

The Longwalk Shopping Centre went pink for the first three weeks of October with plenty of wigs, t-shirts, balloons and large fundraising events where “Who’s Eddie” performed and plenty of children’s activities were available.

A Fun Mini Triathlon takes place for Action Breast Cancer on the 12th November at the Forty Foot. This event involves a quick dip in the forty foot, a stroll/run to Teddy’s Ice Cream Shop and then a cycle into Dalkey.

The Grown Up Debs Ball in aid of Action Breast Cancer was held in the Gresham Hotel at the beginning of October where people had the chance to “re-live” their debs experience, dress and all!

The Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, Co Cork held a Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Weekend in aid of Action Breast Cancer from 7th – 9th October 2011. They offered two nights B&B, dinner, treatment and lots of fun, activities, pampering and relaxation for €185 per person sharing. All proceeds went to Action Breast Cancer.

Clonakilty 4 mile Pink Walk took place on Monday 31st October. A great reason to get out of bed on a Bank Holiday-have a walk, fresh air, cup of tea, chat and support such a wonderful cause at the same time!

Sean Murrays, Main Street, Skibbereen, Co. Cork (home of West Cork's largest lingerie department) covered the town with old bras! Ladies received a free bra fitting with a 10% discount on purchases going to the Irish Cancer Society. The end of October saw a bra tug of war to symbolise women's battle with breast cancer in the town as well as a special fashion show with all proceeds going to The Irish Cancer Society.

Debbie O'Connor and her team hosted a Pink Ribbon event on October 7th to support Action Breast Cancer at Waxys Bar, Marlborough St, Cork. The event kicked off at 11am with a coffee morning, followed by a treasure hunt and a series of live bands and spot prizes for the remainder of the evening. The staff donated their wages for the day. Fantastic!
