How you've helped

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Pink Ribbon Appeal for 2011 and to those who helped us to paint Ireland pink this October. We were delighted with your response and we hugely appreciate all your hard work raising funds for our breast cancer services.

What the Pink Ribbon Appeal supports

Information about Breast Cancer

Our Cancer Information Service is there for anyone who is concerned about cancer – from cancer patients, relatives and friends to healthcare professionals. Our specialist Cancer Information Nurses give confidential information, advice and support and this trusted source is available via the National Cancer Helpline Freefone 1800 200 700, email helpline@irishcancer.ie, online at CancerChat or by dropping in to meet us face to face. About 20% of calls to our Helpline are breast cancer related and we simply couldn’t provide this important service without your support so thank you!

Our Physical Activity Programme

There is compelling evidence to suggest that physical activity after a cancer diagnosis and treatment can help reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence and can improve quality of life. We piloted a physical activity programme with breast cancer survivors and the results were extremely positive. We now plan to roll this programme out nationwide to help breast cancer survivors reduce the risk of their breast cancer returning, and funds from the Pink Ribbon Appeal will help support this.

Breast Cancer Research

We support the brightest and best researchers in Ireland to make sure that advances continue to be made in the breast cancer area. We now know so much about treatment options for the different types of breast cancer as well as how we can continue to work to prevent the disease.
