| Living
with Breast Cancer
In 2001 the Irish Cancer Society launched its Action Breast Cancer
(ABC) project to provide breast cancer information and support,
and to fund breast cancer research. Its services are free, confidential
and accessible and include a national helpline, publications, one-to-one
support, breast awareness talks, and advocacy.
Over the last three years, we at ABC have been continually developing
our services to the public, at the heart of which is the Freefone
Helpline (1800 200 700). The Helpline is staffed by specialist
cancer nurses who are there to offer accurate information, support,
and appropriate referral for women who are concerned about breast
health, women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, their
families and carers, and healthcare professionals. Furthermore,
we actively encourage partners and spouses of women with breast
cancer to avail of our Helpline services to discuss their concerns.
We at Action Breast Cancer are here all year round to offer our
services and our support to the public. As the leading provider
of information and support for both diagnosed and undiagnosed women,
we are always trying to develop and improve our services. If you
have any questions on how you would like to see us develop, we would
be delighted to hear from you. Help us in our commitment to provide
the highest quality services to those affected by breast cancer.
If you would like to find out more about the services provided
by ABC, or if you would like to talk to us about how you would like
to see these services develop, please email us at abc@irishcancer.ie.
To order literature, to avail of the services of our Reach
to Recovery support programme, or to discuss any concerns
you might have with a specialist cancer nurse, call the National
Cancer Helpline today on Freefone 1800 200 700.
