Fashion Target Breast Cancer

Hollywood Star Minnie Driver launched Fashion Targets Breast CancerT Ireland campaign

Brown ThomasBrown Thomas was delighted to recently announce that Hollywood star Minnie Driver jetted into Dublin on Friday, April 25th, to officially launch the 2008 Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Ireland Campaign in aid of services for younger women with breast cancer.  The Grafton Street store rolled out the red carpet for Minnie, who previously graced our shores in 1998 while filming Maeve Binchy’s hit movie Circle of Friends with Chris O’Donnell.

Diane von Furstenberg logoMinnie launched the Diane von Furstenberg designed Fashion Targets Breast Cancer tote bag, which has been exclusively created for the FTBC 2008 Ireland campaign.  Inspired by DVF's Spring/Summer 2008 "Under the Volcano" collection, the bright yellow hued canvas tote is certainly already proving to be the must-have bag of the summer!

The designer bag retails for €45 and all proceeds raised go to Action Breast Cancer (a programme of the Irish Cancer Society) and Europa Donna Ireland so that these two charities can continue to develop a range of services for younger women with breast cancer (under 45 years of age).

Minnie is renowned for her extensive work as an actress, singer and producer. A star of the big and small screen, Minnie has appeared in hit American TV series Will and Grace to great acclaim and is currently starring opposite Eddie Izzard in smash hit dark comedy drama series The Riches.  Her glittering film career includes roles in box office hits such as; Good Will Hunting, Sleepers, GoldenEye, Hope Springs, High Heels and Low Lifes and Gross Point Blank.

Speaking about her trip to Ireland Minnie commented, "I was really honoured to be asked to participate in this year's Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Campaign in Ireland. It is such a worthy charity and a cause that is very close to my heart. We have all been touched in some way by breast cancer; it is important to raise awareness and help raise much needed monies to fight the battle. I am so proud to be associated with the campaign.”

Bags are on sale in all Brown Thomas and BT2 stores!
